Boston Red Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies Live Stream: Watch Online Streaming MLB Game

The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies are playing live on the MLB schedule on Wednesday night and the matchup from Citizens Bank Ballpark starts at 7:05 pm ET and will be on ESPN2 and streaming online from the WatchESPN website as the Sawx try and win the series in the second game and it will have Rick Porcello against Aaron Harang on the mound.

Porcello comes in after signing a four year extension with the Red Sox and he is expected to be a consistent option in the rotation this season. Porcello had his best season with the Tigers last year and now he comes in looking to take things for the Red Sox as the number two starter. The team traded Yoenis Cespedes for Porcello in the offseason and he had a strong spring, putting up a 2.57 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 14 innings of work.

While spring training is not always the best barometer, Porcello said he felt good all spring and was looking forward to his first start. The pitcher did not want to negotiate during the season and that is why the Red Sox moved fast to make sure a deal got done. Porcello is young at 26 and he comes in after winning 15 games in 31 starts last season and he had a strong 3.43 ERA in that time for the Tigers.

Porcello signed a deal worth $80 million over four years and he comes in after starting last week against the Twins in his spring finale. Porcello is not necessarily a strikeout pitcher, but he has done better than usual in that regard and he could try and use that to his advantage in Boston. Porcello is making his first career start with the Red Sox against the Phillies and he comes in against Harang, who was with the Braves last season.

Hanley Ramirez comes in after hitting two home runs on opening day in his first game with the Red Sox and that included a grand slam. The Red Sox won 8-0 against the Phillies to open the season and Dustin Pedroia also had two home runs in the game and Ramirez added five RBIs. The Red Sox see themselves as the favorites in the division and if Ramirez performs like that on a consistent basis, they should be back in October.

The Phillies are not expected to be contenders this season and they come in after losing the first game against the Red Sox and seeing their top players whiff to open things up. The Red Sox have won five of the last seven games of the series and Porcello comes in after last playing the Phillies back in 2013 with the Tigers when he allowed three runs in six innings.
