Miami Dolphins Rumors: Trade For DeVante Parker, Kevin White, Randy Gregory Draft Options With Wes Welker Free Agent Target?

Apr 09, 2015 03:30 PM EDT

The Miami Dolphins met with free agent Wes Welker this week after not agreeing to a deal with Greg Jennings or Michael Crabtree and that could lead to the team targeting names like DeVante Parker, Kevin White or Jaelen Strong in the draft and depending on how the first round plays out, the team could look at a trade of their first round pick.

The Dolphins are looking to add an offensive playmaker this year in the draft and they have worked out receivers for pre-draft visits. The team has met with DeVante Parker from Louisville and NFL.com reports that the team is also interested in Kevin White. The Dolphins have been a very active team this offseason and they need more depth at wide receiver after trading away Mike Wallace. According to James Walker at ESPN.com, the team may add a veteran receiver in free agency and a young player in the draft.

The Dolphins have the number 14 pick in the draft and the team reportedly may consider trading up in the first round. According to CBS Sports, the Dolphins are considering trading into the top 10 and they have been "reaching out to teams" with selections in the first 10 picks. CBS Sports' Rob Rang writes that if they do that, players like Kevin White, Leonard Williams and Amari Cooper could be potential targets. Williams would mean moving up to number two or number three, which is unlikely but possible.

The more likely option is moving into the number four spot, as the Oakland Raiders reportedly are willing to trade out of that selection. Going to number four likely would cost the number 14 pick and another pick, but it would give the team the chance to draft a high impact player. Amari Cooper and Kevin White have both been mentioned as targets for the Raiders at four and that is what the Dolphins could look at doing.

The Dolphins have spent a ton of money this offseason and they could be going "all in" on the 2015 season. A move like this could be big, as the Dolphins could try and move up into the top five to ensure they get the player they want. Cooper is coming off of a monster season with Alabama, while White showed great speed at the NFL combine and has been rising on draft boards.

Randy Gregory is a potential option for the Dolphins if they stay at number 14, as he failed a drug test at the NFL combine and now could slip out of the top 10. Gregory is considered to be a top 10 talent and if he slips, a team could look at him as a value pick in the mid-first or later in the round.

According to Pro Football Talk, the team met with Wes Welker and it comes after he started his career in Miami. Welker has met with the Dolphins and has not had much buzz on the market and he could also be a potential target for the Packers. Welker had a down season in 2014 and dealt with some concussion issues.
