Michael Crabtree, Greg Jennings and Hakeem Nicks are some of the top WRs left on the NFL free agent market and after meeting with the Oakland Raiders last week, he could be close to signing a deal and it comes after teams like the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins and Carolina Panthers have shown interest in the receiver during the 2015 offseason.
Crabtree is one of the top players left along with Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks and Greg Jennings on the free agent market and he has now met with multiple teams. According to NFL.com, Crabtree met with the Miami Dolphins last week and he met with the Oakland Raiders earlier this week, but did not sign a contract with either team.
Jennings has met with the dolphins and he also has met with the Carolina Panthers. NFL.com reported last week that Nicks was a potential target for the 49ers and that he has met with the team this offseason. Crabtree said to the media that he has no problem waiting to sign a deal that he thinks is the right situation and based on that, he could sign after the draft.
Crabtree dealt with an ACL injury coming into the 2013 season and after playing in five games that year, Crabtree was able to stay healthy last season. Crabtree played in 16 games and was one of the top receivers for Colin Kaepernick, making 68 catches for 698 yards and four touchdowns. Crabtree was not expected to sign back with the 49ers once free agency started and while the team brought in Torrey Smith already, GM Trent Baalke told reporters that the door remains open for Crabtree.
According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins offered Crabtree around $3 million for a one year deal, but he rejected that offer. The report says that Crabtree wanted at least $4 million and is looking for a seal closer to "$4.5 million" for a year. The Raiders have the cap space to meet that, but they may also want to wait until after the draft to add a veteran. The team expects to draft a wide receiver early and if they miss out on the main players they want, they could look at adding another vet to the roster.
The Washington Redskins showed some interest in Crabtree earlier in the offseason, but they have not brought him in for a meeting. The Redskins, Raiders and Dolphins have all been mentioned as teams that will likely target receivers in the upcoming draft and that could leave players like Nicks and Jennings waiting to sign until after the draft.
