The Detroit Tigers are looking to get over the playoff hump in 2015 and so far they are off to a great start as the team sits 4-0 on the season. They used David Price to get off to a hot start and will hope he can keep momentum high as the pitcher takes the mound again to face the Cleveland Indians sitting at 2-2 on the season.
The Tigers are hoping to be 5-0 for the first time in nine years, but Cy Young winner Corey Kluber could get in that way. The team will put Price on the mound again after he recorded all but one out in the win over Minnesota. He got the Tigers on a 24-inning scoreless streak that they hope to continue the momentum. The team held the indians to five scoreless innings in their opener despite Justin Verlander not being their to start. The starting pitching rotation has an ERA of 1.00 at the moment and Price can keep that up.
Price is looking to improve after his 7-1 record and 2.64 ERA against the Indians. He won both games against the Indians last year after being acquired from Tampa Bay. He had a 1.23 ERA and 15 strikeouts. He will now pitch against Kluber who went 18-9 last season to beat Felix Hernandez for the Cy Young. He has yet to beat Detroit in seven career games on the road while going 0-4 with a 4.10 ERA. He is trying to end that drought against the Tigers but it will not be easy.
"If I was a fan, I would buy a ticket, for darn sure," Cleveland manager Terry Francona told MLB's official website. "I wish it was Kluber against some A-ball guy, but it's not."
Kluber started rough. The pitcher was charged with two runs and three hits in seven innings against the Houston Astros. Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez have the most success against him.
