NBA Playoffs News: Portland Trail Blazers Lose Arron Afflalo With Injury For 2 Weeks

Apr 11, 2015 03:44 PM EDT

The Portland Trail Blazers are headed towards the playoffs and they may be without Arron Afflalo to start the postseason, as the guard is out with a right shoulder injury and could miss up to two weeks while recovering.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the team announced that Afflalo will be out between one to two weeks after suffering a shoulder injury against the Golden State Warriors. At first the team thought the injury was not serious, but an MRI revealed that the shoulder is strained and that could keep him sidelined into the start of the playoffs.

The playoffs start on April 18 and that gives Afflalo time to recover, but he could still be on the mend once things open in the first round. The team has also been dealing with an injury to Wesley Matthews and the Blazers are hoping that Afflalo can return quickly. The Blazers have clinched the Northwest division and they have 51 wins on the season and are in the fourth seed in the west.

The team has fewer win than the Rockets and Clippers, who are behind them in the standings, and they cannot get past the Spurs or the Grizzlies in the west. The Warriors are first overall in the western conference this year and they are in ahead of the Grizzlies, Spurs, Blazers and Clippers.
