The LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns are playing live on the NBA schedule as the season gets closer to ending and the matchup from the US Airways Center starts up past 10:30 pm ET and has Chris Paul and Los Angeles looking to lock in their playoff seed ahead of the postseason in the western conference.
Every game left is important, as the playoff matchups are still not totally set and that means teams will be looking at seeds and where they hope to end up. The west is a mess, as the entire southwest division has a chance to make the playoffs and the Grizzlies, Spurs and Rockets are all battling for the division and those middle seed positions in the west.
The Suns were close to a playoff position last season and they were in the mix for a while in the west, but they have dropped off and won't come close to making it. The team is behind the Thunder and the Pelicans and this could be the first playoff appearance for New Orleans with Anthony Davis. The Clippers are one of the top teams in the west and they come in with 55 wins and they will be looking to advance farther than they did last season.
The team is in good position now, as they have the same amount of wins as the Spurs and they are in with the Blazers, who are tops in their division, but have fewer wins. The Mavericks are in seventh position and the only spot left in the west is the final spot. The Clippers come into the game second in their division behind the Warriors and they have won six games in a row heading into the end of the season.
The team won two against the Lakers and also won away against the Nuggets and Blazers and now they are looking to keep that momentum going into the playoffs. The team needs to play better on defense overall and so far they have no idea who they will play in the postseason. The team was very disappointed last year and they dealt with the Donald Sterling situation and now they are ready for another run.
The Suns come in on a bad run and they have lost four in a row and one of the last 10 games. The team has losses against the Mavs, Hawks, Pelicans and Spurs and now they face the Clippers. The team comes in after winning against the Jazz before that, but they are heading into the draft and will not make the playoffs again. The team could give the Clippers a tough playoff matchup in the west if they win against the team on Tuesday.
