NBA Playoffs Standings and Matchups: Seeds and Postseason Series For East, West On Final Night of Season Schedule

Apr 15, 2015 03:18 PM EDT

The NBA playoffs standings' are not set with one day left in the season schedule and on Wednesday the matchups will finally be locked in, as the seeds, series and postseason teams will have their spots clinched in the Eastern and Western conferences and the playoffs will begin on April 18 next week.

Things are very up in the air in both conferences, but let's look at the east first, as those teams are still pushing for playoff position. Only one spot is left in the east and it will either be the Pacers or the Nets depending on who wins. The Nets have a home matchup with the Magic and they can get in with a win and a loss by Indy for the final playoff spot.

The Pacers have won six in a row and have played well at the end of the season and they need to win against the Memphis to get in. The Grizzlies are still battling for playoff position in the west, so that is no easy feat. The Pacers can win and get in and if that happens, they will have a rematch with the Hawks from last year. Last season the Hawks were the eighth seed and the Pacers were number one and Atlanta gave the team fits. Now it could be time for a reversal.

The East has the Celtics in as the number seven seed and the Bucks are in sixth. The Wizards are in fifth place and they will have a road matchup for the first series. The numbers three and four seeds have the Bulls and Raptors and those teams have the chance to finish and get the spot, with Toronto looking to get back in that spot after a loss in their last game. The Cavs and Hawks have the top seeds in the east, with Atlanta number one.

The west is a total mess and in the best of ways, as the eighth spot is open for the Pelicans or the Thunder and spots two through six are still up in the air. The Warriors have the top spot, while the Grizzlies, Rockets and Spurs are fighting for the division title. Whoever wins out will get the number three spot or the number two depending on what happens with the Clippers.

The Clippers can't get a seed worse than third and now the Rockets and Grizzlies will try and push the Spurs out of the division lead. The Blazers are in the middle, as they won their division and are fourth currently, while the Mavericks are locked in at seven.
