Seattle Mariners News and Fantasy Baseball Update: Felix Hernandez To Start Against Texas Rangers After Quad Injury

Apr 16, 2015 09:39 AM EDT

Seattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez will make his scheduled start on Saturday against the Texas Rangers at home at Safeco Field after dealing with a quad injury in his last start against the Athletic on Sunday, which forced him out of the game.

Hardball Talk reports that Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune spoke with manager Lloyd McClendon and he confirmed that Hernandez will start. Hernandez was taken out of the game against the Athletics on Sunday as a precautionary measure after he dealt with some tightness in his right quadriceps. Hernandez was not very sharp in the game and the Mariners wanted to ensure that he did not get seriously injured, so McClendon took him out.

The 29-year-old was second in the Cy Young voting last season and is the number one starter for the Mariners. Hernandez has two starts this season and has put up a 3.00 ERA and has 11 strikeouts and three walks in 12 innings. Fantasy owners can relax, the King will be taking King's Court on Sunday in Seattle.

"As we speak right now, my plan is to go with Felix (on Saturday night against the Rangers)", McClendon said Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune, per Hardball Talk.
