The Oakland Raiders may consider a trade for Adrian Peterson this offseason and another option is a draft trade with the Miami Dolphins this offseason, as the Fins may be interested in moving up to take Kevin White or Amari Cooper and if that happens, the Raiders could drop back and target DeVante Parker, Jaelen Strong, Todd Gurley or Breshad Perriman as additions for Derek Carr on offense.
The Raiders have a top five draft pick and a number of needs on the roster, but they could look at adding picks while moving down in the first round to help with depth. According to CBS Sports, the Miami Dolphins are interested in moving up into the top five in the first round this year and the Raiders could be a potential target. The Dolphins may look at going "all-in" on this season and trading up for Cooper or White could help put them over the top.
According to Pro Football Talk, the team is reportedly interested in Peterson, as they have the cap space to absorb his contract compared to the Dallas Cowboys. NFL.com reported the news and that puts the Raiders in the mix if Peterson is traded.
The Buccaneers are not moving out of the number one spot and with teams looking to trade with the Titans for Marcus Mariota at number two, the Jaguars and Raiders are other potential partners. The Redskins pick at five, but they reportedly are interested in White and that could keep them at the selection. The Jaguars are content to stay at three and draft an impact player, leaving the Raiders as the best bet.
The teams have traded in the past, with Oakland dealing their pick so the Dolphins could take Dion Jordan a few years ago. The Dolphins have been very active this offseason and while trading up would likely deplete their draft a bit, it could be worth it to get a high impact player. Earlier in the offseason DeVante Parker visited with the team and he could be another target for the Dolphins if they sit tight. The Raiders may target Parker if they trade back, as he is considered the next best option after Cooper and White.
The first round has a number of strong offensive prospects and if the Raiders move back, they could get draft picks and still get a high impact player. Parker is being looked at as a potential top-10 pick, but he could slip past that group and into the Raiders' spot if they trade back with Miami. Even if he is off the board, the team has other options, including Breshad Perriman and Jaelen Strong, both of whom have been getting attention from scouts as the draft gets closer.
The Dolphins have a need at wide receiver even after trading for Kenny Stills, as they got rid of Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Brian Hartline this offseason. Jarvis Landry had a strong rookie season, but the team needs more depth for Ryan Tannehill. Cooper is looked at as the top receiver in the draft and he comes in after putting up record numbers at Alabama last year.
Cooper had 124 catches for over 1700 yards and he scored 16 touchdowns for the Crimson Tide. White is slightly taller and a bit bigger and he ran a faster 40-time this offseason in workouts. White was also very productive last season, making over 100 catches for West Virginia and scoring 10 touchdowns. Those two players are the main targets for Miami if they move up and for Oakland if they stand pat.
