New York Giants 2015 Schedule: Season Starts With Dallas Cowboys, Home Games Include NY Jets, Patriots

Apr 23, 2015 09:36 AM EDT

The New York Giants schedule for the 2015 season is officially out and the team has some very tough matchups throughout the year, including a Week 1 game on Sunday night football with the Dallas Cowboys as well as games against the NY Jets, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

The Giants preseason schedule has the Bengals, Jaguars, Jets and Patriots and after that they will play on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. The team opens the Sunday night football season in Week 1 and they will then return home for two games against the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins. The team has two of their first three games in primetime, with the Redskins matchup in week 3 on Thursday night football.

The Week 4 game is on the road against the Buffalo Bills and that starts a tough stretch with four road games in six weeks. This season the team plays against the AFC East and the NFC South and that is favorable for the Giants after the tough schedule they had last year. The team has the Bills on the road before returning home to play the 49ers on Sunday night football and then the Giants will be in primetime again.

The team has their first Monday night football game in Week 6 against the Eagles and that will be on the road in Philadelphia. The team has the Dallas Cowboys at home after that and then they will face the Saints and the Buccaneers on the road. The Patriots will visit the Giants in Week 10 of the season and that comes ahead of their bye in Week 11.

The final stretch of the season has three road games, including in Week 12 against the Redskins. The team has the Jets at home in Week 13 before a second Monday night game in Miami and then they will come back home for the Panthers. The final two games are against the Vikings on the road in Minnesota and at home against the Eagles for Week 17 and that will be a 1 pm ET game if it's not flexed.

The Giants finished last season 6-10 and that is why some of the matchups are favorable compared to what the schedule was last season. The team starts the season with three of the first five games at MetLife and that could be key to getting off to a good start. Tom Coughlin returns for the 12th season with the Giants and the team has a number of primetime games to deal with on the schedule. The Giants have four games against teams that went to the playoffs last year, with the Patriots, Cowboys and Panthers on the schedule (twice against Dallas).
