The Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers are playing on the MLB schedule for an AL Central division game on Saturday and the matchup starts at 1:08 pm ET and is on Fox Sports 1 and streaming online from the FS1 Go website at Comerica Park as Alfredo Simon and Trevor Bauer face off in the pitching duel.
The Indians come into the game at 6-9 on the season, while the Tigers are now 11-6 after starting the season hot. The Indians come in after putting up 13 runs against the Tigers and that could be the breakout they need after getting off to a slow start this year. Simon has been off to a strong start for the Tigers and he has helped the team deal with absence of Justin Verlander due to an injury.
The team has not missed a beat with Max Scherzer gone, as David Price has also stepped up, although he was knocked around by the Yankees. Simon has already started off hot, going 3-0 to start the season with an ERA less than 2.00 after his good start last year for the Reds. Simon has pitched against the Indians already this season and he has only allowed one run in his last two starts.
Simon had seven strikeouts and allowed just one run against the Yankees and he has not walked a batter in two starts. The Tigers come in after losing three of four to the Yankees and that was the first tough stretch for them this season after being one of the best teams to start the year. The team has gotten production from all parts of the lineup and they are looking to bounce back after the rough stretch of games.
The Indians needed an offensive breakout and Brandon Moss was in the middle of things and had two home runs in the game against the Tigers while driving in seven runs. The team won for the first time against the sixers in seven games and they put up 15 hits in the game. Bauer has pitched well for the team and he is 2-0 on the season and he is looking to keep going strong after having a scoreless start in his last game. Bauer is averaging over a strikeout per inning and the Indians are trying to get a winning streak going.
