The Golden State Warriors have the chance to sweep the New Orleans Pelicans in four games on Saturday, but has not come without some dramatics. The Warriors have looked every bit the top team in the Western Conference, but they still needed a little bit of magic in order to win. After Stephen Curry led the way for Golden State in an overtime win in Game 3, the Pelicans are hoping to try and bounce back once more and try to get a needed win.
Game 3 was certainly a cause for celebration for the Warriors. Curry hit a 3-point shot with 2.8 seconds left to send the game into over time. It was there he continued to hit from long range in order to give Golden State the win. The Warriors battled back from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter to get overtime in the game and eventually win. Curry was met with chants of M-V-P afterwords.
New Orleans certainly did all they could to get the win. The pelicans were outscored 39-19 in the fourth quarter as Anthony Davis led the way with 29 points and 15 rebounds. Ryan Anderson has also looked strong with 26 points while Eric Gordon struggled after putting up 19.5 points in both Game 1 and 2. If he can find his form again, the Pelicans at least stand a chance of helping extend the series another game.
The Pelicans just simply cannot get passed the scoring threats of Curry and Klay Thompson manning the backcourt. Thompson added 28 points on Thursday in the win. Draymond Green is also playing well with 12 points, 17 rebounds and five assists in Game 3. He has been guarding Davis for a majority of the series and excelling in the effort.
The Pelicans entered this series as big underdogs barely scooting in to the playoffs. However, the team is not looking to go down without a fight. Davis stressed the need to bounce back quickly and try to play all four quarters in Game 4 to get the win. This is the first time the Warriors have led in a best of 7 series since 1975 and are hoping to close it out and get some rest.
