The NBA playoffs standings has the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards into the next round after their 4-0 sweeps in the first round and now those teams have advanced over the Boston Celtics, New Orleans Pelicans and Toronto Raptors into the second round, while the Spurs, Clippers, Rockets and Mavericks continue to battle.
The Cavaliers took care of the Celtics with ease, taking a 3-0 lead in the series before finishing things off in the first round with a sweep. The Cavs won the game 101-93 and they may have lost Kevin Love to a shoulder injury in the process. According to reports, Love could be out for a couple weeks after getting tangled up with Kelly Olynyk and now the Cavs are hoping for the best with the injury.
The Celtics played the Cavs tough, but they could not win a game and now the team is likely set to play the Bulls in round two. The Bulls have a 3-1 lead over the Bucks and they were up 3-0, something that no team in the NBA has ever come back from. The Cavs got 27 points and eight assists from LeBron James and Kyrie Irving added 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers in the win. The Cavs are hoping to get Love back quick, as he could be a key player if the team wants to make a deep run.
The Wizards pushed aside some bad play from the end of the season to sweep the Raptors and now the team is into the next round. The Wizards were the worst road team in the league over the last month of the season and they started the playoffs by winning both games away from DC. The team did not let the Raptors get a win and they took Game 4 for the sweep with a strong 125-94 victory and now they have the look of a team that could make a run.
The Wizards were in control for the entire series and Bradley Beal was very impressive along with John Wall and Paul Pierce. The Game 4 matchup saw the Wizards get 23 points from Bradley Beal, while Marcin Gortat led with 11 rebounds and Wall had 10 assists in the game. Wall was very impressive during this series and now they can go into the next round with confidence.
The Warriors took care of business and now they are into the next round after the sweep of the Pelicans. The team won an amazing game in overtime in Game 3 and they took Game 4 with another strong performance from Stephen Curry. Curry led with 39 points and nine assists and now the Warriors are into the second round as the favorites in the west.
The Grizzlies and the Blazers are still playing in the west, along with the Mavericks and the Rockets. Coming into the next games, the Rockets lead the series and the Grizzlies are up 3-0. The Clippers and Spurs are tied in the series 2-2.
