Bears vs. Packers Predictions: Jay Cutler Sparks Beef, Wishes Green Bay Luck on Thursday

Sep 12, 2012 06:59 AM EDT

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears should be one of the best games of Week 2 as both teams are set to meet on Thursday night. Days before the action even begins Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler has already sounded off wishing the Packers luck in their match up.

"Good luck," Cutler said, via CSNChicago.com. "We invite press coverage. We invite man."

The funny part is that Cutler has only defeated the Packers once since becoming a Bear and has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns.

So what gives Cutler the confidence to trash talk so boldly?

Brandon Marshall.

"It's all about matchups," Marshall said. "I'm 6-5, 230 pounds and there's not too many DBs walking around that big. If they want to get physical, I do welcome that."

Covering wide receivers and playing defense has not been the Packers' forte since last season.

The San Francisco 49ers gave the Packers something to think about as both teams are favorites in the NFC.

The Packers allowed 377 yards of total offense against the 49ers and gave up 31 points. The Bears played a weaker team in the Indianapolis Colts, but they still tallied up 41 points.

Cutler has what he has never had before in the Bears, a tall wide-out. Marshall and Cutler hooked up for 119 yards and a touchdown. Cutler also hit Alshon Jeffrey for 80 yards in just three receptions.

PREDICTION: The Bears have a lot to prove since they did not make the playoffs last season, but with the offense the Bears bring into the game they are, in my eyes,  the favorite to win this match.

In the Packers' last two losses dating back to the 2011 playoffs, they played against tough defenses and teams with big receivers that know how to run routes and do not give up on plays.

The Bears' defense will give up points, but they are known for creating turnovers. With their toughness, they will hold the Packers on defense and then Marshall and Cutler will light up the skies in Chicago.

The Packers' defense has not convinced me that they can perform against an offense that has a quarterback with a big target.

The Packers will give up 30-plus points again and the Bears will win the game 33-27.
