San Francisco 49ers vs. Lions Predictions Week 2: Detroit Will Get Scorched

Sep 12, 2012 02:25 PM EDT

The Detroit Lions get set to visit the San Francisco 49ers as this is matchup is set to be the best matchup on Sunday. Both teams have explosive offensive talents, but the Lions will fall short because of the 49ers defense.

First of all, the 49ers have the momentum after they beat the Green Bay Packers 30-22 on Sunday in a battle between arguably the two best teams in the NFC.

Yeah, the Lions won on Sunday as well, but they barely scraped out a win against the lowly St. Louis Rams as Matt Stafford hit Kevin Smith for the winning touchdown as time was winding down.

This game can either go two ways for the Lions. They will light up the scoreboard against one of the best defenses in the league or they will not score and get blown out. In both scenarios, the Lions are going to lose.

Both teams have great offensive players, but the Lions defense will not be able to contain Alex Smith and his targets of Mario Manningham, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree and Randy Moss.

Also, despite of Staffords' great 355 passing yards performance, he threw three interceptions against the Rams. How many turnovers will the Lions' offense have against the 49ers?

The 49ers will attack on the ground and Frank Gore will rush for over 100 yards again to help balance Alex Smith's aerial attack.

Prediction: I expect the 49ers defense to be super charged at home. 49ers will win 29-16.
