MLB ESPN Live Stream: Yankees vs. Red Sox or Rays vs. Orioles in AL East Battle

Sep 12, 2012 06:55 PM EDT

The New York Yankees will face their longtime rival, Boston Red Sox, on Wednesday night in Fenway Park as the American League East sits back to enjoy a race that looks to be going down to the end of the season. But the battle of interest is not between the Red Sox and Yankees per se, the Baltimore Orioles are also playing against the Tampa Bay Rays as both teams hope to stay close to in the race for the East.

The Yankees' formula is simple, do not lose since the Red Sox are just playing for pride. They lost yesterday to the Sox and the Orioles bombed the Rays as both teams are currently tied for first place. The Rays are just two games back of both the Yanks and Orioles.

To continue the fight for first place, the New York Yankees will send David Phelps who is 3-4 with a 3.55 ERA this season. Facing him for the sox will be veteran Aaron Cook.

The Orioles will have Miguel Gonzalez take the mound at Camden Yards where he will face Alex Cobb.

It can go either way, the Yankees and the Orioles can pull a game ahead of the Rays if they both win. The Yankees could gain first place with an Oriole loss or the Orioles can take first place with a Yankee loss. The other scenario has the Yankees winning and taking first place and the Rays winning, gaining ground on the Orioles as the Orioles fall a game behind the Yankees and take the second place spot in the AL East.

There is drama this September. Catch the live stream action here through the free online live stream brought to you by ESPN.
