Manchester United Transfer News: Antonio Valencia Has It All, Says Ashley Young

Sep 13, 2012 02:10 AM EDT

Antonio Valencia has been Manchester United's most consistent player over the last couple of seasons, and Ashley Young believes his teammate is the complete footballer.

Valencia snapped up most individual awards last season at United after another stellar campaign, and has quickly become Sir Alex Ferguson's most trusted player. Young, who is hoping to be fit for the Wigan Athletic match in the English Premier League on Saturday, could not stop talking-up Valencia.

"Last season he had everything," Young told Inside United. "He attacks, he defends, he can shoot, he can cross, he can pass... he has it all and that's why he scooped up everything at the end-of-season awards.

"It's why the players voted for him and it's why the fans voted for him.

"He's fantastic to play with. Antonio, like every other player, knows how to look after himself as well -- he knows what to eat, what to drink and he works closely with our fitness coaches."

Valencia will face his old club Wigan in Saturday's kickoff, where he made a name for himself on the right wing. It will be the fifth time he will face his former team, if he plays a part for United, since making his move to Old Trafford in 2009.

"Antonio is always very professional and a great human being. I'm very happy with him," Ferguson added.

"He's one of those players who is constantly maturing. Without doubt, his best position is wide right -- he's fantastic there."

United might have to cope without Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa, after both players picked up knocks on international duty. While nothing has been confirmed, Ferguson will be hoping both his new signings can overcome their respective injuries in time for the match against Wigan.
