The NY Yankees and Boston Red Sox are playing live on the MLB schedule for a 3-game series from Fenway Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Game 1 will be on at 7:10 pm ET from MLB Network and CC Sabathia will be on the mound against Justin Masterson for the game on Friday night.
The Yankees come into the game after a good start to the season, they are right in the mix after one month of play. The team is looking to get CC his first win of the season, as Sabathia is 0-4 and he has been coming around as of late. Sabathia did not have a great start in his last time out, but before that he showed some promising signs and now he has the chance to get things going for the Yankees.
The Yanks lost to the Rays late and that came after three straight wins and taking two of three from the Mets. The Yankees have surprised many with the way they have started and that includes Alex Rodriguez, who has looked good at the plate this season. The Yankees are first in the AL East and they are 13-9 on the season and Boston comes in just a game back and they have a 12-10 record this season.
The Red Sox come into the game after taking two of three from the Blue Jays and they are looking to get back on track with some divisional wins. Sabathia has a 5.96 ERA this season and he is looking to bounce back and this could be a good chance, as CC has pitched better on the road than at home this year so far. Sabathia took a loss in Baltimore and also lost in Detroit, but in those games he was very solid and only gave up four runs and two runs respectively.
Sabathia won in Fenway a year ago and now the team is looking to get a victory over their divisional rivals. This year the two teams are expected to contend and that could heat up a rivalry that has cooled off. The Yankees really need Sabathia to be in solid form, as Masahiro Tanaka is out for at least a month and is on the DL. Hanley Ramirez comes in as one of the home run leaders in the league and he has 10 already this season and is looking to mash more.
Rodriguez is not in the lineup on Friday and he will have the chance to tie Willie Mays for the fourth most home runs of all time this series. A-Rod has looked good for the Yankees and while he had four strikeouts over his last two games, he has been one of the surprises for the team.
