Everybody, well, at least the north east, is caught up in the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays fight for the AL East and AL Wild Card, but the National League has one hell of a battle brewing as there are seven teams in the battle for the NL Wild Card.
Currently, the Atlanta Braves hold a semi-comfortable lead over the St. Louis Cardinals who are trailing them in second place.
The Braves are 81-63, but hit a road block after getting swept by the Brewers in a recent three-game series.
The Cardinals have risen from the ashes, once again, as the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds held leads over them in the NL Central.
The Dodgers are the closest threat to the second-place Cardinals. They are just a game behind and have not capitalized on the Cards' three-game losing streak as they have also lost three in a row.
The Pirates are fourth in the Wild Card just 2.5 games behind of St. Louis. They are 72-70.
The late season surprises are the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies. They are both three games back of the Cardinals and are 72-71.
The Brewers swept the Braves and have won seven of their last ten. The Phillies are hotter as they have won seven consecutive games.
The Phillies have come out of nowhere as they were left for dead half way in the season as the New York Mets were the surprise team in the NL East.
Also still in the hunt are the Arizona Diamondbacks who are just four games back.
