Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki passed Babe Ruth on the baseball all-time hit list and he now is in 42nd place among the career leaders in hits and now has 2,847 overall, putting him closer to the significant 3000 hit mark.
Suzuki reached the milestone after getting a single off of Ubaldo Jimenez against the Baltimore Orioles on May 22. According to Hardball Talk, Ichiro is within reach on the list of Mel Ott at 2,876 along with Omar Vizquel, who has 2,877, Frankie Frisch at 2,880 and Zach Wheat with 2,884. Suzuki can continue moving up the list and he is within reach of Frank Robinson, who has 2,943 hits in his career. Ichiro has over 3000 professional hits combined with his time in Japan. He also holds the record for most hits in a season, which he broke back in 2004 when he had 262 hits, breaking George Sisler's record.
