Premier League Results: Koscielny Rescues Point for Arsenal Against Manchester City in Thrilling Match

Well, this Arsenal side certainly have steel!

Laurent Koscielny struck in the 82nd minute, from a corner that too, to give the Gunners a deserved 1-1 draw against champions Manchester City in the English Premier League at the Etihad.

Central defender Joleon Lescott had given City the lead late in the first half, and were seemingly on their way to another victory at home, before the Frenchman's well-taken strike.

Arsenal began the much better side, looking better in possession and the more likely to open the scoring. First Kieran Gibbs was at fault to not take a shot while in acres of space inside the box, the left-back instead trying to play-in a first time ball to Lukas Podolski, who had one of his more sober games on Sunday.

On the other end, chances were few and far between for the home team, Aguero forcing a nice save from Vito Mannone after cutting in from the left.

Arsenal should have really taken the lead soon after, with the Gunners carving the City defense wide open. Abou Diaby played a pass to Santi Cazorla, who in turn fed the ball to Aaron Ramsey, the Welshman then playing a brilliant through ball to the feet of Gervinho, whose first touch was one of the poorest in recent memory, allowing Joe Hart to snuff out the chance.

Podolski then should have at least hit the target, after some good play by right-back Carl Jenkinson, who had another steady game for his side.

City struck from a corner, off a mistake from Mannone in the 40th minute. The Italian keeper came out to collect the ball, but missed it completely, allowing Lescott to power home a back-post header into the empty net.

Roberto Mancini showed his defensive leanings, bringing on defensive midfielder Jack Rodwell for Scott Sinclair at the start of the second half. Arsenal did not look as potent in the second period, enjoying bags of possession - they had 60 percent of the ball - but not really troubling the City defense.

The home team were looking dangerous on the counter-attack with the likes of Yaya Toure, David Silva and Aguero causing a few problems.

Arsene Wenger brought on Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott in the 70th minute to try to shake things up, but still failed to find that breakthrough.

However, just when it looked like it was going to be one of those days for the away side, the equalizer came. Hart, initially, made a brilliant save from an equally wonderful strike from Santi Cazorla; but of the ensuing corner the goal arrived. Lescott's tame clearance only found Koscielny, who was only in the starting line-up for flu-ridden Thomas Vermaelen, inside the box, with the defender controlling it well before slamming the ball into the roof of the net.

City almost snatched a winner off a moment of absolute brilliance from their captain Vincent Kompany. The defender tried an outrageous bicycle kick from ten yards, which was well kept out by Manone, the rebound - via Koscielny -- fell kindly to Aguero, who could only shoot wide.

Gervinho then had the chance to make-up for his early miss. The Ivorian cutting inside and finding himself in space just outside the box, with plenty of time to pick his spot, the forward only managed to fire his shot high above the net, leaving both teams with a share of the spoils.

In the day's other matches, Demba Ba gave Newcastle United a 1-0 win over Norwich City, while Jermain Defoe struck the winner for Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-1 victory against Queens Park Rangers.
