The Miami Dolphin are hoping to have a much more successful offense in 2015 and so far things are looking good. After investing heavily in Ryan Tannehill's future, the Dolphins are raising expectations and expecting players to follow. The team is going with a youth movement on offense as several young players look for big roles in 2015. Will Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker get favored over savvy veterans like Greg Jennings?
With players like Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson officially out of South Beach, the offense is expected to be handed over to Landry and whoever else opts to impress early. So far that goes to Parker who was drafted in the first round and already turning heads. Despite having players like Jennings and Kenny Stills on the roster, Parker is expected to be an immediate starter for the team.
"DeVante was great today," Tannehill said, via the team's official website. "We've been seeing [it] for the past few weeks just working on air, but today against the defense you got to see him make some tough catches with defenders on his back in traffic, and that's what you want to see. You've got a guy with a big body who's able to make strong catches with his hands in traffic. That's when you're able to cut it loose."
While Jennings is not at risk of getting released, he is by no means in line for the starting job. Jennings will likely battle Stills for the third spot in that rotation. The veteran should look better in Miami than he did in Minnesota simply because Tannehill throws the ball much more, but Jennings is not the player he was when he competed in Green Bay. The quarterback consistency will help, but not make him a starter.
Other players quickly proving their worth in OTAs and Jordan Cameron and rookie Jay Ajayi. Cameron signed with the team and is replacing the departed Charles Clay. He told the media via the Miami Sun-Sentinel that he is picking up the offense very quickly and feels confident he can contribute immediately which he is expected to do.
Ajayi is more of a mixed bag. According to the Miami Herald, Lamar Miller will be the starting running back in 2015, but Ajayi could push him for carries. According to Bleacher Report, the rookie is showing great versatility in the offense and will be a huge weapon for Tannehill. Miami might finally have the contending offense they have been hoping to build.
