Yes you heard it! The Chicago White Sox lost earlier today and the Detroit Tigers could tie for first place as they host the Kansas City in their Tuesday matchup that will begin at 7:05 p.m. ET/6:05 p.m. CT.

The Tigers have done a poor job at taking advantage of the White Sox's struggles in the last few games. The Sox have lost six of their last ten games. Meanwhile the Tigers are 5-5 in their last ten.

Today they will have Anibal Sanchez take the mound against the Royals' Bruche Chen.

Prior to his start against the Oakland Athletics, Sanchez had pitched very well for the Tigers. He only surrendered seven runs in 33.1 innings pitched, but gave up five runs in 5.2 innings against the A's in his most recent start and took the loss.

One of his great starts came against the Royals, back in August, when he three seven innings of one-run ball, but still wound up taking the loss.

He will go against Chen who has been the pure definition of inconsistency for the Royals. Chen has sandwiched 18.1 innings with 16 earned runs between 14.2 innings of shutout baseball. The White Sox fell victim to Checn as he shut them out through 6.2.

The Tigers could use a win today. Miguel Cabrera has carried the team in the last week. He is attempting to finish the season with the triple crown and if the Tigers make the playoffs, he could solidify his candidacy as the AL MVP.
