With training camp right around the corner, teams are preparing their rosters after seeing what they have in OTAs and mini camps. The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles have both made big moves releasing Tim Wright and Evan Mathis respectively. Both players could see a lot of action on the open market and the Atlanta Falcons could be getting involved as they have needs at both the tight end and offensive line spots.

The Patriots announced Thursday via ESPN they were releasing Wright after the tight end accounted for six touchdowns last season. New England found success with Wright in goal-line packages. At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Wright is an excellent hybrid player that can play tight end or out wide as a receiver. Any team looking for offensive depth would be wise to make a move for Wright.

The Falcons could be in play for the tight end. Right now there is a question mark around the position that has lingered since the retirement of Tony Gonzalez. Atlanta has confidence in Jacob Tamme who appears to be emerging as the starter. They have inconsistent third-year pro Levine Toilolo, but he is no guarantee. Head coach Dan Quinn has been very complimentary towards the veteran as Tamme is confidence he can bring a lot to the team.

"One thing that is really encouraging for me is that I really enjoy playing football more now than I ever have," said Tamme, via the Central Kentucky News. "A lot of guys cannot say that at this point in their career. It's kind of a slow fade for some, but I have not experienced that. I feel good physically and I more excited on the practice field than my rookie year. I can't explain it, but I am thankful for it."

Wright would be a solid addition to the Falcons this season while Mathis could be critical as well. The Falcons downfall the last two years has been injuries, especially at the offensive line. At one point last year, Toilolo was playing tackle due to the number of players out with an injury. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, several players came back during OTAs including Jake Matthews, Joe Hawley and Peter Konz all returned from injuries, but the Falcons have not had luck in that area and depth could be critical.

Mathis was released from the Eagles after failing to report to camp as he was seeking a new contract from Philadelphia. The Pro Bowl guard who was set to earn $5.5 million in 2015 and $6 million in 2016. The Falcons did just sign Chris Chester to a $2.8 million deal which could hurt their pursuit of Mathis, but the Falcons need depth and he would drastically improve the line in 2015.
