Tune in as the Detroit Tigers face the Kansas City Royals a day after capturing first place in the American League Central. The game is scheduled to take off at 1:05 p.m. ET/12:05 p.m. CT.

The Tigers will have Doug Fister on the mound. It will be his first start following his complete-game shutout of the Minnesota Twins. Outside of his start against the Chicago White Sox where he gave up four runs in four innings, Fister has been unhittable in September. 

With a win today, Fister, who came over from Seattle last season, can ensure his first winning season of his career. Since becoming a Tiger, Fister's record is 18-10. 

He will face the Royals, who will have Luis Mendoza on the mound for them. Mendoza is 8-9 in 2012 with a 4.44 ERA. 

In his last start against the Tigers, Mendoza gave up six runs over five innings pitched. However, Mendoza has pitched decently in the month of September. His one blemish in September came agaisnt the White Sox where he gave up five runs on ten hits over 5.1 innings. In his three other starts he has gone 17 innings pitched and just given up five runs.
