NBA News And Rumors 2012: Gilbert Arenas Interested In Signing With Either The Los Angeles Lakers Or Los Angeles Clippers Before Season Opener

With all the drama and excitement that was the NBA off season this summer, it appears things began to calm down with the training camp right around the corner.

However, new rumors are circulating and they suggest that free agent point guard Gilbert Arenas is interested and willing to sign with either the Los Angeles Lakers or Clippers before the start of the season.

Arenas, who grew up in L.A. and played high school ball in North Hollywood, reportedly said on Tuesday that he was likely to sign with the Lakers or Clippers for the upcoming season.

Being that this is just a speculated rumor, there's no possible room for Arenas on either of the teams.

But say either the Lakers or Clippers decide to pick him up, he would be relatively cheap because he can't expect nothing more than the veteran's minimum at this point in his career, and with his offensive ability he will conceivably be a low risk move that could turn into a high reward.

Arenas was amnestied by the Orlando Magic last season and then picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies, where he finished out the season. Arenas played an extremely small role and averaged just under five points per game in limited minutes. The Grizzlies chose not to extend Arenas and now he's a free-agent.

Before joining the Grizzlies last season, the Lakers reportedly worked out Arenas and were ready to sign him if the trade for Ramon Sessions fell apart.

Whether or not he gets picked up, the 30-year-old is scheduled to earn $43 million over the next two seasons regardless thanks to the Magic releasing him via the amnesty clause.
