Manchester United have been crying out for a box-to-box midfielder for the past few seasons, and according to reports Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in one of the best in the business in Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.
Vidal is considered one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe, and the Juventus man had a stellar first season with the Italian club, helping them to the Italian Serie A title.
According to reports in Germany, where the Chilean international spent four years with Bayer Leverkusen before moving to Turin, Ferguson is looking at the possibility of bringing in the 25-year-old, after being impressed with his performance against Chelsea in the Champions League.
There is one problem, however, Vidal is contracted at Juve until 2016, and will cost somewhere in the region of £35-40 million ($57-65 million).
Darren Fletcher is one player that United have missed in the middle of the park over the past year, and after making a welcome full-return by captaining United to a 2-1 win over Newcastle United in the League Cup Wednesday, the Scottish international wants more. United will play Chelsea in the next round of the League Cup, and Fletcher cannot wait for that particular fixture.
"It's exciting," Fletcher told the club's official website. "It is what it's all about. This club is all about big games and that's another one. We want to progress in the competition. So we'll be going to Chelsea and looking to win.
"We know it's going to be difficult as they have started the season very well but the manager has got a big squad to choose from. Those three games will be massive so I'm sure everyone will play a part."
"We want to be in the next round and want to win every competition we're in."
Anderson and Tom Cleverley scored for United at Old Trafford, with the latter getting his first goal for the club with a cultured strike.
"It's been playing on my mind a little bit because I've always scored goals when I've gone out on loan but I've not been doing it for my club and country," Cleverley said. "The gaffer gave me a bit at half-time for missing the chance in the first half so it was nice to stroke that one in. Hopefully that sets me off on a run now.
"I practice those sorts of finishes a lot in training with Rene (Meulensteen) and when it came to me from Welbs (Danny Welbeck) I always knew what I was going to do. Luckily it found the back of the net. I've got that first one now and hopefully more will come."
