The New York Jets will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon and there is one alarming fact too difficult to ignore.
This was tweeted by the New York Gets' account yesterday:
Since 2007, East Coast teams are 68-26 against West Coast teams when playing at home at 1PM ET.
To the West's defense, they have had one of the weakest divisions in recent years. From 2007-2011, only the '07 Seahawks and '11 49ers had double digit win totals in that span and in '07 the New England Patriots were whooping everything that stepped on to the field.
Do I believe the New York Jets are better than the San Francisco 49ers right now? Absolutely not
Did I think the 49ers were going to lose to the Minnesota Vikings? Absolutely not.
Anything can go down week after week, but the 49ers are not going to drop a second game in a row to the Jets.
The Vikings actually have one of the best defenses in the NFL. I cannot say the same about the Jets, however. The only two stats the Jets are somewhat dominant in are points scored per game and their passing defense, they are slacking everywhere else.
The 49ers have a good running game and that is precisely one of the Jets' biggest weaknesses. They give up almost 150 yards a game on the ground, fifth worse in the league.
The 49ers' offense is also not too good aside from their running game, but their defense is still pretty good this season.
Prediction: Score will finish 20-16 49ers on top.
