New York Knicks News: Carmelo Anthony Inspired By Kidd, Camby and Thomas Workout Regiment

Sep 28, 2012 02:37 PM EDT

As the New York Knicks continue looking for final players to fill up their roster, Carmelo Anthony has noticed one thing about the veterans currently in the team and expected to power the team's bench.

"The work that the older guys put in, you would think that they were still in their early 30s or something like that," said Anthony on Thursday.

One old veteran still on the Knicks' radar, is former NBA bad boy Rasheed Wallace. Anthony said that Wallace has been one of these veterans working out in the gym with the rest of the team.

"We go up there and you'd be surprised the work that the older guys put in, from Camby to Jason Kidd to Rasheed," said the Knicks' All-Star.

Anthony looks as these guys as his inspiration entering the 2012 season in which the Knicks are looking like one of the oldest teams in the league. But it is Kidd running the pre-training camp workouts despite being 39, turning 40 at the end of the NBA season.

This is exactly the reason why players like these are surrounding the Knicks' Tyson Chandley, Amar'e Stoudemire, Raymond Felton and Anthony. All of these players are capable of producing, but Kidd and the rest of the veterans bring experience and toughness to Knicks team that has potentional, but seems to always beat itself.

Kidd was supposed to mentor Jeremy Lin, but we all know what happened with that. Now Carmelo Anthony can learn a few things from the veteran and NBA Champion.

Adding Wallace would further toughen up the Knicks' bench, despite his best days coming as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons.

Many around the league expect Carmelo Anthony to have a monster year. He tore it up in London for the Olympics and people say that LeBron James performance in 2012 will motivate him to play better.

If the Knicks' organization has done one thing it is surrounding Anthony with players who have been around the league for years and can share their wisdom of the game with one of the brightest stars in the league.
