The PGA Tour leaderboard at the US Open Championship at Chambers Bay for 2015 has Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth in the mix at the top in Round 2 and heading into the weekend and the third round the trio of American players will try and stick around, but Tiger Woods will not be, as Woods missed the cut at the tournament.
Dustin Johnson was at the top of the leaderboard coming into the day and he has been battling with Reed and Spieth at the top, while Branded Grace, Henrik Stenson, Jason Day and Ben Martin are also in the mix. Johnson put up a 65 in the first round and Reed had a 68, while Spieth put up a 68 in the first round. Spieth is trying to get things done after winning the Masters already this year and he hopes to stay in the mix heading into Sunday.
Spieth put up a three under for the second round and he had the lead for a little while with a number of birdies and he has the chance to double dip now after Augusta. Spieth would be the first golfer to get it done since Woods, but Tiger will not be there to see it after putting up a 76 and missing the cut. Woods had a fall on one hole and he was not comfortable from the start at Chambers Bay. Woods came in after a tough run at the Memorial and now he is out at the US Open.
Woods finished 36 holes at 16-over-par 156, which is his worst performance at a major and while he came in feeling confident about his game, Woods is on his way out early. Woods described numerous changes he is trying to make and he said that he will work through things heading out of the tournament. Woods missed the cut for the first fifth time in a major championship and that has now happened to him twice in the last three.
