I'll be honest, I was trying to make predictions of this match, but I could not tell who the underdog was. The record shows that the Vikings are a better team, but their offense is average. The Lions have a powerful offense, but they have no defense.
This matchup will feature a top offense and a top defense going head to head. Making the match even more interesting is the fact that the Lions and Vikings are NFC North rivals.
How crazy good are the Lions on offense, even after Matt Stafford went down against the Tennessee Titans last week, the Lions were able to put points up on the board and almost came back to with the game.
Shaun Hill took over for Stafford and threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns. That's pretty much what you get out of Christian Ponder on a good day.
All jokes aside, when you break down what the Vikings have done on defense, you have to give them the edge as they have the ability to make stops. On the other hand, the same cannot be said about the Lions' defense, so I guess I just figured out who is the underdog and who is the favorite to win this one.
I'll do a prediction right now in this live stream post. I say the Vikings will win and begin the season 3-1 because they have the better defense. If the Vikings humiliated the 49ers, then what will they do to the Lions? It will be close but the Vikings will edge out the Lions 23-20.
