The Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics will lock up to decide who will walk away with the AL West. The last games of the regular season could not be more important.
Both teams are pretty much in the playoffs. The Rangers official stamped their entrance to play further into October with a win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels. The A's are just one win away from eliminating the Angels or an Angels' loss will guarantee they play at least one more game in October.
The A's trail the Rangers by just two games and they will look up for a three-game series begin Monday night. They meet at 10:05 p.m. ET/7:05 PT. The A's host the Rangers at the Oakland Coliseum.
On the mound for the A's will be Jarrod Parker, who is coming off a three-run, six inning outing against the Rangers last week. He will face the Rangers' Martin Perez who was rocked by the A's last week. He gave up five earned runs over .2 innings pitched. The man did not survive the first inning!
The Rangers need one more game to clinch. The Athletics need to sweep the Rangers to take the first place spot and win the AL West.
Had Bud Selig not expanded the second Wild Card spot, the A's find themselves fighting for their playoff lives, but they have a back up in case a sweep cannot occur.
