Monday Night Football Predictions Bears vs. Dallas: Chicago's Defense Will Beat Romo and Dallas

Oct 01, 2012 01:34 PM EDT

The Dallas Cowboys host the Chicago Beear in Week 4's Monday Night Football matchup. Though the Bears seem to be a more dominant team at home, they have what it takes to steal a win on the road against the Cowboys.

The Bears come into the game with probably the best defense in the NFL. They are ranked in the Top 5 of three of their main defensive categories; points allowed (5), total yards (5), passing yards (7) and rushing yards (4) per game.

Their offense has been inconsistent from week to week, but their running game will wake up as they face a Cowboys team that allows over 100 yards rushing per game. The Bears' passing game will have to work as the Cowboys have the best secondary in the NFL allowing only 137 yards a game over the air. Teams also only average 250 total yards of offense against them.

The Cowboys' offense has been too weak to go against the Bears' defense. Tony Romo racked up 283 yards, but no touchdowns and an interception against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that had been bullied by the New York Giants the week before.

The Bears and Cowboys are both inconsistent teams. However, the edge goes to the Bears. They are a better team than the Bucs and can score more than 10 points.

I'm not so sure the Cowboys can put up more than 16 a game.

They are the second worst scoring team in the NFL averaging 15.7 points per game. The Cowboys could only get seven points agains a tough defensive team this year already when they faced the Seattle Seahawks.

Look for the Bears to keep up with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.

Score prediction: I see this one finishing 23-16 in favor of the Bears.
