FIFA Women's World Cup is into the 2015 semifinals and the final four teams include the United States, Germany, Japan and England and the two upcoming matches will decide who plays for the championship in Vancouver on July 5 with TV coverage from FOX.
The semifinals will start next week with the United States playing against Germany and that will be in Montreal at 7 pm ET on Tuesday, June 30. The match is on Fox and comes after Germany won over France in penalty kicks and after the United States won over China 1-0. Germany and France played a 1-1 game before the German side won 5-4 in penalties to advance to the next stage.
The United States women have not played at their best level yet and they are into the semifinals against Germany after winning over China. Japan won over Australia in Edmonton to advance into the semis, while England won over the host nation of Canada to get into the next stage. the third place game will be next Saturday, July 3 for the losers of the semifinals. The final will be on Sunday and the United States women are hoping to make it there.
Brazil was one of the favorites, but they were upset in the last round and now the United States comes in to try and get things done. The US won over Colombia in the previous round before beating China, while England won over Norway and Japan won over the Netherlands. Germany routed Sweden and they are considered the favorites with the way they have played through the tournament so far.
The USA women's team played against China and won 1-0 after a goal from Carli Lloyd and now they are into the next round for one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament. Lloyd broke the scoreless tie with a header and it comes as the team has not played up to their potential so far and Lloyd has been one of the players unafraid to criticize how the team has been performing. The US dominated this game and now they are through to the semis.
