The Boston Red Sox have been able to find a nice groove despite several key players sitting out with injuries. While Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramirez continue to be hampered by issues, the Red Sox are still finding ways to win games. However, their season-long enemy comes back into play as the Red Sox will try once again to find a way to beat the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Red Sox continue to find ways to win even with two of their best batters on the disabled list. Over the past 16 games the team is averaging 5.4 runs and batting .286. While Pedroia is expected to be out for some time, Ramirez could return, but not against the Blue Jays who he has hit 15 homers against. Instead, Pablo Sandoval is stepping up with a .386 batting average along with Alejando De Aza who has hit in three of his last four games.
Clay Buchholz takes the mound looking to keep up his successful road streak. The pitcher is 5-6 with a 3.68 ERA while being 2-1 with a 1.82 ERA on the road over his last five starts. He has also won his last three decisions while giving up just one earned run in his last 14 innings. He gave up four runs in six innings against the Toronto Blue Jays back at the start of June while the team completed a sweep over Boston in that series. Now the Red Sox return on the road hoping for different results.
The Blue Jays continue to dominate with a strong batting rotation. They have won their last 18 of 24 including 14 of 18 at home. RA Dickey will take the mound as he looks for his second win in his last seven starts while being 3-7 with a 4.88 ERA on the season. He currently has a 3.09 ERA in the month of June. However, against the Red Sox he has struggled going 0-2 with a 6.16 ERA in three starts against the team this season. They charged him for six runs in six innings last time at the mound. Dicky will not have to deal with Pedroia or Ramirez which could help success.
