Robin Van Persie might have scored the two goals for Manchester United in their Champions League game against CFR Cluj - taking his tally to seven goals in eight games - but the prolific Dutchman is still far from satisfied.
The former Arsenal player netted a brace in a 2-1 win over Cluj, after the Romanian side had taken a surprise lead.
Van Persie prides himself in being an all-round player and with that come providing assists, something he has not quite mastered yet, but which he definitely will eventually, in a United shirt. The Dutchman believes he is slowly getting to his best at Old Trafford, but there is still some more work that needs to be done, before he is at his absolute best - a statement that is sure to send a shiver or two down the spines of defenders in the English Premier League as well as Europe.
"I think I'm on the way," he told ITV. "I'd like to make more assists. I have seven goals but for me, as I've said many times, it's not only about goals.
"Of course it's about winning, but I want to make more assists. Until now, I gave only one so I want that to improve a bit. I'm on a good run but I can always do better."
The first assist came in last weekend's 3-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, when Van Persie played in a nice through ball for Shinji Kagawa to finish. However, scoring goals is very much the 29-year-old's forte, and even if the first goal on Tuesday might have come off his shoulder, the second was finishing at its very best.
A brilliant pass from Wayne Rooney, who played in a deeper role in midfield in the Champions League game, over the top of the Cluj defense was met with the cultured left foot of Van Persie, which eventually turned out to be the winner. Rooney and Van Persie combined well on the night, Rooney assisting on both of Van Persie's goals.
The striker said he would have to look at the second goal again to see if it was his best in a United shirt yet. "I have to look at it again, but it felt good when it came off," he added. "Everything starts with a good pass so I have to thank Wayne, because not many players can give a pass like that.
"It was good build-up play before the goal and, when it came to him, I knew he could see that pass and actually give it exactly the way I wanted, so credit to Wayne.
"I think it's the first time we both started together and we're both very pleased with that, but we're all in it together. Chicharito (Javier Hernandez) played very well today, we have Danny (Welbeck), we have lots of strikers so we're all doing it together."
