Carl Jenkinson says the belief in the Arsenal team is sky high with the full-back stressing the Gunners can go all the way in the Champions League this season.
Arsene Wenger has had a highly successful career in England, but has fallen short at the final hurdle when it has come to Europe; the 2006 final loss to Barcelona being the closest the Gunners have gotten to winning the title, despite consistently qualifying for Europe's elite completion for well over a decade.
Jenkinson, however, believes this squad is full capable of achieving unprecedented success. "In all honesty, everyone in the changing room believes the sky is the limit," the 20-year-old told reporters. "I think we can achieve what we want to this year.
"We really believe in ourselves and in the ability we have got in the squad. We'll take one game at a time and see where it takes us.
"If Chelsea can do it, then we can do it," he added on the club's official website. "There's nothing stopping us going all the way.
"We've just got to make sure we perform to how we can do in this competition and I believe if we do, we will progress.
"In this competition you've just got to take it game by game and just focus on it that way. I think that's the best way to go about things."
Jenkinson said there is nothing that can compare to the Champions League. "I think the Champions League is the pinnacle of football -- it's something I really look forward to," he said.
"The English play different to the Italians, to the French. They're all different styles of football so in general it's a lot different to the Premier League."
The youngster has put in some brilliant performances for the Gunners this year, leading to him being tipped for a call-up to the England squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. Jenkinson, however, has a Finnish mother and has represented Finland at youth international level.
The defender, who was born in England and has an English father, said he will make a decision on which country to play for only when the decision needs to be made. "I'm just concentrating on my club football, that's my bread and butter," he said. "I'm just focused on the here and now and the next game against Olympiakos.
"(Finland) have contacted me. I told them, 'I'm focusing on my club football' so that's all there is to it. You can read into that how you want.
"I'm going to have to make a decision at some point. As I've said many times, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Until then I'm just concentrating on each game as it comes."
Jenkinson would never have been in the reckoning for an England call-up a couple of years ago, but things have changed dramatically over the past year, since making his move to the Emirates from Charlton last summer. The defender admitted playing for the club, he supported as a boy, regularly this season has played a huge part in his commendable performances.
"I am really enjoying my football and I think that's a big part of things," he added. "I think confidence is a big part. I'm feeling good at the moment and hopefully I'll just keep building on my game and my confidence will grow with it.
"I feel comfortable at this level now. I think I have acclimatised you could say. I just want to push on and hopefully keep going as I'm going. It has been a whirlwind year. I've realised that in football there are always ups and downs and it's about trying to keep a level head.
"You're always going to have downs in football, but at the same time, you're always going to have ups as well and I've just tried to not take the downs too personally."
