Despite having already clinched their playoff position, the Detroit Tigers will have plenty of drama in their season finale against the Kansas City Royals.
This game may be historic as Miguel Cabrea looks to clinch baseball's first Triple Crown in 45 years.
Cabrea has league-leading numbers this season with a .331 average and 139 RBIs to go along with his major league-best 44 home runs. He leads the AL in both averages and RBI races, the only real threat to him becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Boston's Carl Yastrzemski is Texas Rangers' Josh Hamilton, with 43 home runs.
Cabrera was 4 for 5 with a homer in the opener of this series as the Tigers clinched their second straight division title with Monday's 6-3 win. They're guaranteed to begin the postseason Saturday at home against the division winner with the second-best record.
Cabrera, a lifetime .335 hitter versus Kansas City, is 4-for-11 in his career with a homer and three RBI versus Royals starter Luis Mendoza, who gets the call in this finale looking to hurl Kansas City to just its third victory in 11 games.
Detroit is 12-5 versus the Royals this season, but has split the eight meetings in Kansas City.
