Think what you want of the St. Louis Rams, but one thing they have done as of recently is shutting down big time wide out Larry Fitzgerald.
Historically speaking, Fitzgerald is an average receiver when facing the St. Louis Rams.
In eight years, he has faced the Rams 16 times in his career. He has totaled 1,190 yards in these games with 13 touchdowns.
Divide that up and what do you get? About 74 yards receiving and less than a touchdown per game.
It does not help that the Arizona Cardinals do not have a great quarterback who can make things happen for Fitzgerald.
Making matters worse, coming into the game, the Rams are 11th in the league in yards allowed through the air. Their secondary is only giving up 213.5 passing yards a game. Expect the Cardinals to start off heavy on the run as the Rams have the seventh worst running defense in the league.
Though the Cardinals' offense is not one of the most potent in the league, the fact that the Rams' offense is also weak will give the Cards the defensive edge.
The Cardinals are known for giving up yardage as they come into the game allowing oppoents 357 total yards a game, but they always find a way of stopping them giving up only 15 points a game.
So this game will be about the Cardinals' defense, not Fitzgerald and the offense.
Prediction: Larry Fitzgerald might get somewhere around 5 catches for 60 yards.
