Arsenal have won the last four meetings with West Ham in all competitions and haven't lost to the Hammers in nine. They've conceded just two goals in their last eight league games against West Ham, with both of those goals coming in a 2-2 draw in 2009.
The Hammers' home record has been formidable with seven points from their first three games and only one goal conceded.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce spent Friday deciding whether Andy Carroll will be fit enough to start against Arsenal.
Carroll returned from a hamstring problem in West Ham's win at QPR on Monday but he is short of match fitness and Allardyce is nervous about exposing him to further injury risk.
West Ham expect Winston Reid to be available after he was knocked out at QPR but Allardyce is less certain about left-back Joey O'Brien.
Arsenal, meanwhile, could have defender Per Mertesacker back from illness however first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny remains sidelined, as does Abou Diaby.
Midfielder's Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong continue their rehabilitation, along with Czech winger Tomas Rosicky and defender Bacary Sagna.
