The saga of Raheem Sterling may finally be coming to an end, as reports have Manchester City and Liverpool agreeing to a transfer deal worth £49 million for the star midfielder and it comes after intense speculation about his future throughout the English Premier League season.
Sterling is just 20 and has the bulk of his career ahead of him, but he will be continuing it away from Anfield after the two sides could not come to an agreement. According to reports from the BBC, Sky Sports and other media outlets, Sterling is being sold to Manchester City on a deal worth nearly $80 million. Sterling is considered to be one of the top young talents in the EPL and he will be staying in the league with the move to Man City.
Sterling has made just under 100 Premier League appearances and he has 18 goals in his career. Sterling and Liverpool had talks during the year about a contract, but reports had Sterling rejecting lucrative offers of six figures per week. Liverpool finished just out of the top five last season after a slow start and they now are making another major move after moving on from Luis Suarez last year. Sky Sports reports that Sterling can start negotiating "personal terms" with Man City and that he has to undergo a physical to make the deal official.
The team is now moving on from Sterling and he has the chance to win a title after joining Man City, who finished in second place this year to Chelsea and won the EPL last year. According to the BBC, "Edin Dzeko and/or Stevan Jovetic" could be pushed out with Sterling coming in. Man City has also been linked to Paul Pogba this summer. Sterling is a big part of the England team and he is one of the up and coming players for the national team.
Sterling's move has an effect on a number of teams, including Liverpool, Man City and yes, Queens Park Rangers. According to Sky Sports, the Sterling move could give the club a "£9.8million windfall" as Sterling previously was with the QPR academy when he was a 15-year-old. The club is "entitled to 20 per cent of any sell-on fee" and the report says that Sterling received six figures with the "sell-on clause included" in his deal when he signed in 2010.
