The New York Yankees will travel to Oriole Park to face the Baltimore Orioles in Game 1 of their American League Division Series at 6:07 p.m. ET.
During the regular season, Baltimore and New York met 18 times, splitting their victories evenly. Over these regular season games, the Orioles took a slight scoring edge over the Yankees at 92-90.
The Yankees will come in with CC Sabathia on the mound. Despite being put on the disables list, Sabathia posted a 15-6 record with a 3.38 ERA.
Sabathia has faced the Orioles three times this year and the results have not been good. Twice the lefty pitched six innings and allowed four runs, with the most recent outing being the roughest. On Sept. 8, Sabathia lasted six and one-thirds innings but surrendered five earned runs and three home runs.
The Orioles, on the other hand, will start pitcher Jason Hammel.
Hammel won eight games and produced a solid 3.43 ERA this season. The 30-year-old right-hander has also pitched three times against the Yankees. In those appearances, Hammel pitched a combined 16 innings and gave up seven earned runs.
In his last start on Sept. 5 against New York, Hammel pitched five innings, giving up just one run in a no-decision.
