It will be an exciting start to this NLDS matchup as the Washington Nationals host the St. Louis Cardinals at 3:05 p.m. ET/2:05 p.m. ET.
We begin with the Cardinals who are fresh off of a controversial Wild Card Game win on Friday against the Atlanta Braves. Regardless of what people say about the error, had the Braves not committed as many errors as they did, then the call would have been more pivotal.
Matt Holliday had a solo blast and Allen Craig gave the Cardinals their first run of the game as he laced a double over the head of Martin Prado for an RBI double.
Kyle Lohse gave up two runs on a home run that scored a pair, but shutdown the Braves the rest of the way.
The Cardinals will have Adam Wainwright on the mound as the defending champions look to take the 1-0 lead in the series. Wainwright was 14-13 over the regular season with a 3.94 ERA in 32 starts.
He will face the most surprising team out of the N.L. East, the Washington Nationals.
The Nationals did it this season with great pitching, beginning with Gio Gonzalez, the ace they traded for over the offseason, sending prospects to Oakland for the left-hander starter.
Gonzalez enjoyed this season as one of the most dominant pitchers in the league. He went 21-8 with a 2.89 ERA. Gonzalez also won eight of his last ten starts and had a 2.00 ERA.
Gonzalez stepped up to the occasion as the Nationals sat their young ace Stephen Strasburg, who recently came off of Tommy John Surgery.
The Cardinals host the first two games of the series.
