Brandon Marshall tweeted "If I'm cut tomorrow. I'll retire; this will be my last team." This decision could not have come easily and we all know Brandon Marshall as somewhat of an unpredictable player, but it seems like Geno Smith will really be Marshall's final quarterback. The Jets have had a rough run as of late however several key offseason moves have them primed for resurgence. Marshall being one of those moves is likely to find a little more peace than in Chicago considering the way Jay Cutler has played the last few seasons.
Geno Smith does have some competition for the starting quarterback job; Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty have been added in the offseason to bring some much needed competition to Geno's doorstep. The starting quarterback for the Jets will most likely be the player who has the most chemistry with Marshall, Eric Decker, and the 2nd round pick Devin Smith. Both Petty and Fitzpatrick should be able to push for the job but head coach Todd Bowles has already said its Geno's job to lose. Regardless of who is throwing the ball Marshall will make for a prime target in the end zone. Since 2007 Brandon Marshall has gone over 1,000 yards each season for the Bears, Dolphins, and Broncos except for 2014 were he finished with only 721 yards and 8 touchdowns. Marshall has shown he can be productive on several teams but with the Jets his last stop, has his decline already begun to take place?
