The NBA free agent market has names like JaVale McGee, Carlos Boozer, Kevin Seraphin, Donald Sloan, Greg Stiemsma, Norris Cole and Dorell Wright available and teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns could be interested heading through July.
The Dallas Mavericks are expected to add another front line player with DeAndre Jordan going to the Clippers and both McGee and Boozer have had interest from the team. Kevin Seraphin is also available on the market and according to Marc Stein at ESPN.com, Seraphin has had interest from the Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers. The Chicago Bulls also could be in the mix for McGee or Seraphin, as the team is looking for another player to put behind Joakim Noah with Nazr Mohammed on the free agent market.
The Mavericks are the team to watch for now even after they added Zaza Pachulia in a trade, as they look poised to add another player. The Dallas Morning News reported that the team met with free agent Samuel Dalembert last week and he could be a potential fit for the team up front after previously playing in Dallas. Marc Stein reports that McGee has had interest from the Mavs, but sources said the interest is "exploratory" at this stage and a contract is not close.
McGee has dealt with injury issues over the past couple years and he only played in 23 games last season after missing the previous season. McGee played with the Nuggets and had time with the Sixers and now he could be a target for the Mavericks, Lakers and Knicks. The Knicks have been looking for another center with Cole Aldrich leaving and they could look at adding Alex Kirk to the roster after he has played well in the summer league. Ian Begley at ESPN New York writes that McGee, Greg Stiemsma and Kendrick Perkins are potential options for the Knicks.
Carlos Boozer has received some interest on the market and he could be a target for the New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors, according to Chris Broussard at ESPN. Boozer comes into the offseason after averaging 11 points and seven rebounds per game for the Lakers in 71 games played. The Lakers likely are not interested in bringing back Boozer, as the team already traded for Roy Hibbert and signed Brandon Bass to a deal.
Kevin Seraphin is also a free agent and has had interest from multiple teams, as Marc Spears at Yahoo reports that the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and the Dallas Mavericks are options. Seraphin said after the season that he hoped to go to a team where he could have a more significant role, but at this point he likely will be a reserve off the bench wherever he signed. Pro Basketball Talk writes that the Wizards are open to Seraphin returning, while the Mavericks could look at him as an option if they don't sign Dalembert or McGee. Donald Sloan has reportedly had interest from the Chicago Bulls and Spurs, according to RealGM.
