The Atlanta Braves will get a look at what might have been as they prepare to face a former player on Monday night. Brandon Beachy got his career started with the Braves, but back-to-back Tommy John surgeries ended his time in Georgia. The Los Angeles Dodgers took a risk on signing him and are waiting for the return to pay off as Beachy makes his second start since returning from injury as Los Angeles plays the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.
Beachy's return to the mound has been a long process as he sits with a 0-1 record and 6.75 Era after an unimpressive return. Following a two-year absence from the field, Beachy can back with the Dodgers to give up three runs in four innings in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. This was the pitchers first time on the mound since August of 2013 with the Atlanta Braves. Beachy was once considered a top prospect and came up throw the farm system, but ended up hurting his elbow and not getting his contract extended in free agency. No the Braves will see what kind of progress the pitcher has made since his extensive surgeries.
The Dodgers are rolling right now mainly because of strong pitching. They are winners of six of their last eight games while seeking their ninth win over Atlanta in 11 games. Zach Greinke has played a big role in the team's success by continuing his scoreless outings streak and now Beachy will try and keep the momentum going. The team will get a familiar face back onto the field as Carl Crawford returns following an absence with a right oblique strain. He is batting .425 right now while having three home runs in his last 12 games against the Braves.
Meanwhile Atlanta needs a win after dropping seven of their last eight games. They lost two of three against the Chicago Cubs while averaging just 2.6 runs per game. Matt Wisler takes the mound while being 3-1 with a 3.10 ERA on the season. He has looked strong so far on the mound while giving up two runs and striking out seven in a loss to the Colorado Rockies. With five starts under his belt, Wisler is looking for some momentum.
