NFL Arrests and Crime News: Kansas City Chiefs Release Justin Cox After Domestic Violence Charges

Jul 22, 2015 12:49 PM EDT

Undrafted free agent Justin Cox was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs following his arrest. He is being charged with burglary, aggravated domestic assault, and trespassing. Cox was arrested on the same charges in Starkville Mississippi, while attending Mississippi State. He was suspended for the final three games of the season. He was charged with domestic violence last November but the charge was dropped.

During mini-camp Cox stated that he was a changed man and "It's not who I am, I made a mistake and I'm just building from it, I can't go back to the past, I'm going to come in here and do what I got to do, play ball and learn from the veterans and do what I got to do to make the 53 [-man roster]."

Cox will be looking for a new team however until his aggravated domestic assault charge is dropped it will be tough to find any team that will have him. The NFL's stance on domestic violence has been unflinching and non-negotiable for players, it seems though that it is more of an unsaid culture change than an active effort by the NFL to keep incidents like this from happening.
