Kelvin Benjamin has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of mini-camp but coach Ron Rivera believes that his top wide receiving threat will be full go for the start of training camp.
Benjamin hurt his hamstring when he slipped on wet turf in the beginning of Panthers mini-camp. Benjamin is a necessary part of the Panther's offense with Coach Ron Rivera stating that he is "Too good a player to have on sideline."
The Panthers have shown extreme patience with Benjamin's injury much like the Giants have with Odell Beckham Jr. Hamstrings are a ridiculously temperamental injury and can flare up at any time if they are not 100 percent healed.
Benjamin had this to say about his injury, "It's up to the trainers. Right now they're just taking their time with it." He also spoke about being on the sidelines, "I'm getting a lot of mental reps right now, right now, it's about getting healthy and getting back on the field." Currently Devin Funchess is getting the first team reps in practice with Benjamin sidelined. Kelvin Benjamin set a rookie record last season with 1,008 receiving yards so his importance to this offense cannot be underestimated.
