Patriots News: Tarrell Brown Signs, Helps Expand Secondary

Jul 23, 2015 05:41 PM EDT

Tarell Brown has just joined the Patriots in hopes of helping their ailing secondary. The Patriots secondary was decimated during free agency with the loss of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner. The Patriots have been looking for free agent corners even going as far as signing Bradley Fletcher from Philadelphia, who got routinely beat all of last season. Brown is more of a solid option and should move ahead of him on the depth chart. Currently the Patriots secondary consists of right corner backs Justin Green, Bradley Fletcher, and Derek Cox.

On the left side of the secondary there is Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler with strong safeties Patrick Chung, Nate Ebner, and newly drafted Jordan Richards. Rounding out the secondary at free safety is defensive superstar Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon, and Tavon Wilson. Tarell Brown can play at either side of the secondary and had a pretty solid career with the San Francisco 49ers. The Patriots will be better in coverage but without Darrelle Revis there should be a significant drop off. The Patriots should be a lot better rushing the quarterback with first round pick Malcom Brown bringing pressure up the middle.
