Carolina Panthers Injury Report: Pro Bowl Center Ryan Kalil Expected To Miss Remainder Of The Season Due To Lisfranc Injury

Oct 10, 2012 03:53 PM EDT

Carolina Panthers' Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season.

Before the season kicked off, Kalil took out a full-page ad in The Charlotte Observer and promised fans a championship.

Well looks like if there's a championship to be won, Kalil won't take part.

The Team announced Wednesday afternoon that Kalil will be out the remainder of the season due to a Lisfranc injury that will require surgery.

Kalil suffered the foot injury in Sunday's 16-12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

He went to see Dr. James Anderson on Tuesday and it was determined that he had a Lisfranc injury, having a torn ligament that supports the middle of his foot. He is scheduled to have his season ending surgery this Monday.

Kalill was a first-round draft pick for the Panthers in 2007, and has been to the last three Pro Bowls and is an important piece to the Carolina offense.

The Panthers, who have a bye week, will have to scramble to find a replacement for Kalil by their Week 7 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Coach Ron Rivera says Geoff Hangartner will move from right guard to center and either Garry Williams or Jeff Byers will play right guard.

The Panthers also may look to sign a center for depth.
